What is Job Line?

If you are seeking a new position - Job postings provide up-to-date information on available positions with a contact information or web site referral.

If you are seeking a new employee - Have your open position advertised on Job Line. Job Line is active 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is accessible via the MLA Web site. This service is available to the library population, local and long distance. If you are an Institutional Member of MLA, there is no charge. If you are not an Institutional Member, there is a $50 charge (per position announced/ per two weeks) payable to MLA, 1401 Hollins Street, Baltimore, MD 21223.

How can I use Job Line?

If you are seeking a position - check the MLA site frequently. If a posted position appears to fit your requirements, get in touch with the contact person. Always send a cover letter, resume, and the names, addresses, telephone numbers, and email information for three current professional references when you respond to Job Line items. Or follow all special directions noted about the application process. You may also be referred to a Website for full details or to download an application.

How can I advertise on Job Line?

To have a position posted on Job Line, send a position description, location and contact name to the MLA office through our online form . The position will be posted on Job Line as soon as possible after it is received in the office.

Is this an exclusive service, or may I advertise elsewhere?

By all means, feel free to advertise on an emal listserv, or in newspapers, journals, etc. The more exposure you give the position, the better your opportunity to find the best possible person for the job.
