Welcome to the new MLA web site. We hope that you find the new site user friendly and are able to take advantage of the many new features. What follows are highlights of the changes or answers to frequent questions.

About the site

The site is hosted by Timberlake and is created using a content management system. The site incorporates the membership information that was once housed in an Access 97 database (yes, it was really that old). This means that you can now maintain your own MLA profile, pay for and track events, and track CEUs. This also means that we have lost some flexibility that we had with Carroll County Public Library being able to customize the pages to meet our exact needs. We have done our best to offer the same capabilities, but you will notice slight differences here and there.

Your login information

You now have your own login to access membership areas of the site. The areas include: the MLA Directory, The CRAB, Listserv subscriptions, MLA conference videos, and membership rates for conferences and events. To access your profile and these areas of the site, you will enter your login information at the top right corner of the site.

If you have an email address attached to your MLA account, you will use your email address as your username. For those that do not have an email address on file, you will use your firstname.lastname as your username.

The first time you log in, you will need to receive a temporary password from the system. Click on the Forgot your credentials? link beneath the password field. Enter your email address on the page that opens to have your login credentials emailed to the address we have on file. Once you log in you will be able to change the password to whatever you want. For those of you that do not have an email address in your record, you will need to call the MLA office. They will ask you to verify some of your account information prior to providing you with your password or setting one up for you.

Please take a moment to review your profile and make any changes to ensure that we have up-to-date and accurate information.

Account Updates

Please take a few minutes to review all of the information located in your account profile. Please click through all of the links on the left and update any information that is listed. The main areas to focus on are:

- My Profile
- My Billing Information
- My Directory Options
- Committees and Groups - These are listed on the profile page, but please add them to this page.

Conference and Event Registrations

When completing your conference or event registrations, please complete the registration all at once. There is a bug that Timberlake is aware of that if you stop the registration and come back to it later, your fees will be compounded. If you do happen to do this, you will notice that your final cost will be at least double the actual cost. If you see this on the payment page, please contact the MLA office so they can cancel the cached registration. Unfortunately, you will need to start the registration process over. We are hopeful that this bug will be fixed soon.

Credit Card Payments

Credit card payments will now be processed in real-time through the web site. The site is secure and you will be able to view the payment information for each trasaction when logged into your account.

Incorrect Information

If you see any incorrect information on any web page (other than your account), please contact Bob Kuntz and let him know the page and what information needs to be updated or removed. If you are not able to update any account information or have a question concerning your account, please contact the MLA office at 410.947.5090.

MLLI - Maryland Library Leadership Institute

The MLLI web site has been moved back under the MLA site. It can be found under About MLA or Related Sites.
