MLA conference going virtual!

The 2020 MLA Conference has been officially rescheduled and readjusted to fit a virtual format! The conference will run from October 6th – January 7th. There will be regular programming on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The schedule is available here. Other than regular programs, we will have our keynotes, silent auction, poster sessions, virtual vendor hall, pub quiz, and a Show-Off Showcase.

October 6th is our kick off day so we are jam packed!
9am – Virtual Conference Orientation
10am – Virtual Vendor Hall
1pm – Virtual poster sessions
3pm – Opening Keynote with Michael W. Twitty

Other keynotes:
Wednesday November 18th at 3pm – William G Wilson Maryland Author Award Keynote with Alix Rickloff
Wednesday January 13th at 3pm – Closing Keynote Speaker Stephen Thompson
 
Social Events:
October. 22 at 7pm – Pub Quiz
December 3 at 7pm – Show-Off Showcase
 
Silent Auction bidding will take place live from October 6 – October 27 using Google Sheets. More information will be sent to conference registrants as conference nears! Baskets will be delivered to winners.
 
There are four programs that will require special registration this year (special registration is noted with a * before the name of the program in Sched):
4 hour programs:
Whole Person Librarianship: Social Work Concepts for Excellent Patron Services (October 27th and 29th 10am – 12pm)
Teens as Critical Thinkers and Interested Learners (December 8 and 10 10am – 12pm)
Mindfulness for Daily Practice (January 12 and 14 10am – 12pm)
6 hour program:
Understand and Mitigate Implicit Bias: Optics Workshop (November 3, 4, and 5 from 10am – 12pm)
 
These programs can be paid for at the time of registration.

Most programs be recorded for later viewing by conference registrants. Any programs not available to be viewed later will have this indicated in the program description in Sched.

Conference registrants will receive a document with the access information to attend the programs. Those attending the special registration programs will receive their access information separately. There will be a live password protected document available to conference registrants with links to the recorded programs.
