Under the general direction of the Library Director, manages the seven departments that provide administrative support to our 19 branches: Collection Development, Facilities Services, Information Services, Marketing and Development, Media Services, Technical Services, and Technology Support; . Works as part of the senior administrative team in establishing policy and procedure and setting a compelling direction for the library system. Participates in both short term and strategic planning; . Meets regularly with managers to develop and discuss departmental goals, work plans, and strategies for collaboration between departments and branches. Consults with and advises managers on policies, procedures, human resources issues, work flow, library service trends, and other activities; . Provides ongoing feedback to direct reports and prepares annual performance reviews. Sets standards for effective work behaviors and demonstrates them consistently. Fosters innovative thinking and actively monitors the professional development of staff; . Facilitates the monthly meetings of the System-wide Administrative Services (SAS) group and coordinates the recruitment of staff members for various committees. Attends Board meetings and takes minutes; . Assists in the preparation of the operating and capital budgets; . Represents the library to the public, community groups, County government, non-profits, and other library systems. Is active in professional organizations including ALA and MLA. <p>Requirements: . MLS from an ALA accredited school or a master's degree in a related field; . Comprehensive knowledge of public library operations acquired through ten years of progressively responsible work experience in a public library and five years of supervisory experience; . Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrates the ability to effectively lead the work of others; . Ability to prioritize, analyze data, exercise good judgment, and focus on solutions; . A commitment to excellent customer service and the ability to establish and maintain respectful relationships with customers, co-workers, vendors, and diverse community groups; . Experience using various technologies including Microsoft Office applications; . Willingness and ability to travel throughout the system; .
