The Student Interest Group

The NEW Student Interest Group (SIG) was reformed in June 2010. Get involved!
he Student Interest Group (SIG) provides a forum for people in Maryland who are considering, currently attending, or recently graduated from Library and Information Science programs (both online and face-to-face programs). Those who are interested in supporting colleagues engaged in obtaining their degrees are also welcome to participate. The SIG is a diverse interest group that cooperates with other MLA units to offer its members programming, online and face-to-face networking, awareness of ALA-accredited university programs, information about employment opportunities, and encouragement to be involved in our state library association (a chapter of the American Library Association).
In the future, the SIG plans to work with colleagues across the Maryland Library Association to:
- Facilitate formal Mentoring arrangements between SIG members new to the profession and experienced library professionals.
- Connect SIG members with field study and internship opportunities.
